Hi! My name is Jordan
Gibbons and I am a dual major studying elementary and special education at
Edinboro University. I am currently student teaching at Cambridge Springs High for
special education.
I
am from Buffalo, New York. I loved growing up in the city but decided that I
needed a change so I came to Edinboro. At Edinboro I ran cross country and track
for only a year. I grew up running and it’s something that I love to do but it
just became too much with balancing out school. In my spare time I also love to read. Jodi
Piocult is my absolute favorite author.
So far I have
completely loved my placement. I was extremely nervous on the first day but my
cooperating teacher and the students I have are awesome. She has already helped
me a lot just in these first two days. She is very flexible and has made it
really easy for me to not be afraid to ask her for help with anything at all. She
also has me taking over lessons very slowly which I’m very happy with, so that
this way I can gradually get used to the work. On my first day I met all the different
students and gave a little introduction of myself. She had me reading “Tuesdays
with Morrie” to her language arts class. Language arts is the first class starting
next week that I am going to be taking over and I’m already very excited. I
observed most of the rest of the day and even got all four of my observations
done. Today is my second day and I am going to be staying all night for the
“senior project night”. I have been here
since eight am and will not be leaving the school until the project night is
over which is 8:30 pm. As long as a day as it is I am very interested to see
what “senior project night” is all about. So far today I have been interacting
a lot with the students and helping them do homework during the resource room
periods. I am extremely excited to see what else is about to come in these next
couple months.
