The Secret of Planning

As I read this section I continually was saying, "OH! That makes so much sense!! Why weren't these things taught to us in school." And so forth. I think that the thing I struggle with most is time management and planning how much time to leave for each section. After reading the section on How to Manage Your Time, I think that I will be much more successful in being able to stick to my time limit and know what I will be achieving in that time limit. Sectioning my lesson in 5 minute increments will help me tremendously and I will see how it plays out this week.

I think that one of the other elements that stood out to me was the How to Be Flexible section. I think that it is the most important thing about teaching, is learning how to be flexible. My favorite part about this is that the writers say that, "Flexible people bend, but they don't break." This is such a great statement. I like it because the easier it is to adapt, the better the lesson will go, the more the students will get out of the lesson. The attitude of a flexible person is an attitude I want rather than the attitude of someone who is not flexible.

I'm enjoying this book very much and hope to continue to learn as much from the rest of the book as I did in this first chapter.
