Hello everyone! I am Kamie Crum and I am a senior dual majoring in Elementary and Special Education. I am recently signed up to take my middle school mathematics PRAXIS in May so hopefully I can teach math as well.
In my free time, I enjoy being outside doing something. I just moved in with my boyfriend in August, so I am planning to get involved with gardening this Spring. I also enjoy going down south where my boyfriends family has a beach house and the sun keeps on shining :) I am trying to learn to golf, which is very frustrating to me because I was a natural athlete in high school. I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was little. It is my dream to help make a difference in a child's life both academically and socially. I want to change the world for some children and be that one person they can rely on.
I live in Saegertown, Pennsylvania which is a small town next to Meadville. We only have one stop light and not that im bias or anything, but we have the best Dairy Isle on this side of the Mississippi. Our graduating class was 91 students, so we are a close community and once one person knows something, the whole town does too.
Wednesday was my first day of my second student teaching placement. I observed most of the day, helping a few students one-on-one. We also get the joyous duties of 7th and 8th grade lunch duty. That was my first experience on lunch duty and it was interesting to say the least. My co-op and her aides are really easy going. I can tell this is going to be a good experience and I am going to learn a lot. Starting on Tuesday, I will begin teaching Science. I love science and I have so many experiments (hands-on learning) that I want to do with the children. In the classroom there is a few conflicts between a few students, but the aides are wonderful and know how to humor them to get them back on track. I am very excited to see what this journey has in store for me.
Happy Easter Everyone!

ReplyDeleteHello, Kamie! Graduating with 91 people would be so small for me. I graduated with almost 800!
ReplyDeleteHi Kamie! You sound very busy as well! I can relate to being outside...that's where I am any chance I get! I loved Saergertown! I did my last field placement in 3rd grade there and learned so much. A small school has its good and bad qualities. I'm sure it is nice knowing who everyone is, but like you said, everyone knows each other's business! I went to McDowell in Erie and we graduated with 550 students! You think you know everyone until you see that unfamiliar face walking down the aisle! Even though I graduated with a lot of people, everyone still knew each other's business! Well, have a great rest of the semester!! :)
